Breast Care Specialist (BCS) – F/T and P/T Positions

This position is a unique opportunity to support post-surgical breast cancer patients.

Our nonprofit has 25 years of experience supporting Bay Area breast cancer patients by providing an array of post-surgical products that facilitate both physical and emotional healing. Products include breast prosthetics, pocketed bras, compression garments, and wigs. Our assistance programs ensure that under-served patients have access to these products. We support our work via sales, foundation grants, donations, and fundraising events.

Beyond providing products, our compassionate staff offers emotional support and strives to provide for our patients what the "HERS" in our name represents: Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support. It is our goal to help patients feel understood and for HERS to be their "soft place to fall" during one of the hardest times of their lives.

One of the most important roles at HERS is that of Breast Care Specialist -- our team members who provide direct patient services. They are tasked with a unique and very fulfilling job: providing patient assessments, creating and implementing patient treatment plans, and plan management.

Breast Care Specialists (BCS) are responsible for providing breast cancer survivors with post-surgical product consultations and fitting services deemed medically necessary and directed by a physician prescription. The BCS holds a customer service-oriented position that involves working directly with patients in a professional clinical capacity.

The role assesses patient status pre- or post-surgical intervention and conducts product selection, as well as fitting patients for bras, compression garments and prostheses. The role may also require working with the patient’s caregivers, medical providers and insurance companies, to ensure thorough assessment of the patient’s needs.

The BCS is responsible for patient charting, documenting the products required, and creating patient and vendor product invoices. The role may also involve direct conversations with manufacturers and vendors to determine the best solution(s) to meet patient needs.

This is a unique position at a unique organization. Given this, we provide on the job training and cover the expense of Certified Mastectomy Certification (CFm).

The ideal candidate will have a love of helping others and an appreciation for impactful, fulfilling work. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

HERS Breast Cancer Foundation’s team members are hardworking, compassionate, and supportive, and adhere to our core values: Communication, Trust, Respect, and Teamwork.

Breast Care Specialists report directly to our Director of Programs.

Given the diversity of our patient population, bilingual and multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
